    Lawrence Brittain and Shaun Keeling

    2016 Silver medalists in men’s Coxless pair. Representing South Africa in Rowing.

    Shaun Keeling matriculated from King Edwards VII School in 2005.

    Shaun has rowed at all national levels for South Africa from 2004-2016 earning 87 caps for his country. He has been in the top heavyweight men’s boat from 2008-2016. During this period he has rowed with six other partners and together have been the backbone of the heavyweight squad building up to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

    His rowing career spans 16 years (he started when he was 13 years old). Shaun came 5th at the Beijing Olympics in 2008; and heartbreakingly missed out on the 2012 London Olympics.

    Following this, and after much deliberation on whether to carry on rowing – he pushed on and continued, winning silver at the Rio Olympics in the men’s coxless pair with Lawrence Brittain.

    During his career, he has won three senior world cup medals, one Senior World Champs bronze and an Olympic silver medal.

    Lawrence Brittain matriculated from Parktown Boys High School in 2008 with full colours for rowing and has represented South Africa every year since 2008, earning himself 70 caps in the Green and Gold. 2010 Lawrence Brittain became an u23 World Champion Winning South Africa’s first ever rowing championship gold medal.

    He has been SA Champion 11 times and is the Men’s Captain of the Tuks Rowing team.

    In October 2014 just two months after representing South Africa at Senior World

    Championships with the aim of being at the Rio 2016 Olympics he was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer. Less than two years later he stood on the Olympic podium and won silver in the men’s coxless pair with Shaun Keeling.

    Lawrence comes from a rowing family, he was diagnosed with cancer and beat it, making his way to the 2016 Olympics.

    Shaun had 4 operations and suffered from a number of injuries, health setbacks and financial stresses and overcame all these challenges to make it to the Olympics.

    Shaun and Lawrence only rowed as a team for a short while before going to the Olympics and their talk incorporates the importance of team work, communication and belief. This inspirational talk leaves guests feeling inspired, while bringing them close to tears.

      Liezel Van Der Westhuizen

      Liezel Van Der Westhuizen

      Based: Cape Town & Johannesburg

      Already a household name after an impressive stint on MNET Idols, Liezel van der Westhuizen is currently taking the South African entertainment scene by storm.

      The relaxed smile, smooth and professional working manner and impeccable style has made her one of the most sought after presenters and emcees in the country. Coupled with a drive for success and an incredible work ethic in everything she does, it is no wonder the sky is the limit for this talent.

      As only the second woman in the world to present Idols, Liezel has become the familiar face on the popular reality show in season five and six, and continues to impress with her current task of presenting SABC3’s new daily breakfast show – Expresso – as well as her weekly radio show – the Sunday Sundowner – on 94.5KFM in Cape Town.

      With so much going for her, it’s hard to believe it has just been just a few years since Liezel was “discovered” by Jacaranda FM after the programme manager heard her working as an announcer at Makro after serving her apprenticeship at TUKSFM.

      “I began my radio life at Tuks FM and was well and truly hooked on the joys of being able to use media to connect with people,” she explains. While At TuksFM she received a job offer from EMI Music South Africa as International PR Manager, which introduced her to an array of global music stars.

      An 18month stint as an SABC3 continuity presenter and presenter of the lunchtime show Lunchbox led to greater things, with IDOLS confirming her rise to the top and in 2010 she launched SoundCheck Live on MNET before starting her work on Expresso, as well as making her on-screen debut in the movie, The Race-ist.

      With her professional style and ease of conversation, it’s no surprise to find out Liezel has a Master’s Degree in Communication Management from the University of Pretoria and since 2000 has been a member of Toastmaster’s International, receiving her Advanced Toastmaster Bonze certificate in 2005.

      She also holds a degree in Human Resources Management and holds both a Honours and Masters degree in Communications Management and is now working towards a PhD in Communication Management as well as attending Xhosa lessons

      Liezel also manages to find time to work as a voiceover artists, with an impressive portfolio of television and radio voiceover work underpinning her other exploits as well.

      It all encompasses a drive inspired by her grandmother’s fight against Cancer.

        Marks Maponyane was born in Meadowlands, Soweto on 16th February 1962.
        In 1983, 1987 and 1994 Marks Maponyane was awarded the SA Footballer of the year Award. Marks Maponyane has been a professional footballer for 17 years and in 1984 he was nominated as South African Sports Hero of the Year. Marks Maponyane was Captain of the Chiefs between 1985 and 1988 and he played for Bafana Bafana from 1992 to 1995.

        Marks has been involved with motivational speaking and MC work for most of his foot-balling career, speaking to companies such as Anglo American, Toyota and Nissan S.A, He has also been a Sales Executive for 13 years; 10 years with Adidas and 3 years with Reebok. Marks is a successful businessman and now runs his own business.
