Cherry Pill Duo

Rory and Kristel are passionate about music and the way it brings people together to celebrate. Their biggest reward and inspiration is to see people moved by their music, be it tapping their feet or moved to happy tears while listening to their renditons of covers, instrumental classics and jazz. The duo sing and perform instrumentally, making them a versatile fit for various types of events.

The names behind Cherry Pill are Kristel Birkholtz and Rory Gaddin, a violin and guitar duo. Kristel plays the violin and holds a master degree in music. She is an independent spirit and has performed in a number of exciting and diverse settings. She has appeared on TV as well as in jazz and classical concerts. She has also performed in high energy electric violin shows. Kristel is passionate about expressing her experiences of the world in song.
From a young age Rory Gaddin began wring and producing his own original compositions from home. Before long he collaborated with friends and created music incorporating elements of blues, rock, metal, and electronica. Rory has also performed with various cover bands and ensembles including classical and jazz.

As Cherry Pill Rory and Kristel have performed together as a duo for more than 10 years. With their original music they have toured the word, performing in various countries. They were recently selected as finalists for the Annual International Acoustic Music Awards (2020,2021) in the category of best group duo and have had two of their original songs voted as South African finalists for the Afrimusic Song Competion in 2019 and 2020.
