Kabelo Motlhomi

Kabelo Motlhomi: A Virtuoso Violinist
Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, Kabelo Motlhomi is a violinist whose musical journey transcends genres.
A Collaborative Spirit
Kabelo’s career boasts collaborations with South African music royalty like Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo, and Black Coffee. He’s also graced international stages, touring with Buskaid as a soloist and concertmaster, performing with esteemed orchestras like The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. A career highlight? Playing at the Johannesburg premiere of “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”
Classical Roots, Diverse Expression
Nurturing his talent from a young age (starting at 11 with Buskaid in Soweto!), Kabelo later honed his skills at the Royal Northern College of Music. While classically trained, his passion extends beyond the traditional. Currently leading the Resonance String Quartet, Kabelo is actively establishing himself as a prominent jazz violinist. This versatility shines through his performances, where he effortlessly switches between his 1772 Sebastian Kloz violin and a modern Yamaha SV-250 electric violin.
